Bayou Region Leaders Travel to Washington to Advocate for the Issues That Matter Most

Last week, Aurora Solutions Group helped plan and coordinate a fly-in to Washington, D.C., bringing together leaders from AIC, COLAB, LMOGA, and SCIA and to advocate for the Bayou Region. The trip focused on three priorities that shape the future of our communities: a strong offshore energy industry, flood insurance reform, and workforce development.

These issues are connected. Offshore energy drives our regional economy. That economy depends on a trained workforce, and that workforce needs affordable flood insurance to live in the communities they serve. Raising all three together gave our delegation a clear, consistent message to carry into every meeting.

Meeting With the People Who Can Make a Difference

Over the course of the trip, the group met with our Louisiana congressional delegation, the Department of the Interior, Chairman Westerman of the House Natural Resources Committee, and the National Ocean Industries Association. Each meeting gave Bayou Region leaders a chance to put a face to the issues their communities are dealing with and speak directly to the people with the power to act on them.

All three issues drew real engagement throughout the trip. Offices asked detailed questions on offshore energy, flood insurance reform, and workforce development, and Aurora has already followed up with several of them to continue those conversations.

"These offices understood exactly what our communities are dealing with, and that made for real, substantive conversations," said Lori LeBlanc, President of Aurora Solutions Group. "These issues are not abstract policy for the people we represent. They are the difference between a region that can grow and one that cannot. We left Washington with real momentum, and we intend to keep it going."

Why This Work Matters

Fly-ins like this one are where strategy meets action. Aurora's role is to help organizations like COLAB, AIC, SCIA, and LMOGA show up prepared, speak with one voice, and leave a lasting impression on the offices that can move these issues forward. The relationships built and the follow-ups secured during this trip will shape the work ahead in the coming months.

We are grateful to our partners at AIC, COLAB, LMOGA, and SCIA for trusting Aurora to help lead this effort, and to every organization and office that took the time to meet with us. The Bayou Region has real needs, and this trip proved that when our communities speak together, people listen.
