Community at the Table: Meeting with Secretary Burgum

On Monday, Aurora Solutions Group had the opportunity to help the Louisiana Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association (LMOGA) bring together a meeting in New Orleans with Department of the Interior Secretary Doug Burgum.

The room included representatives of the Gulf of America offshore energy industry, Louisiana Department of Conservation and Energy Secretary Dustin Davidson, and elected leaders from the Bayou Region. The conversation focused on Louisiana's role in a changing global energy landscape and how the Gulf can continue to produce the energy our country depends on.

Our part was simple. We helped make sure the right people were in the room.

Local voices at the table

We were glad to have local representation at the table, including Lafourche Parish President Mitch Orgeron, Representative Joseph A. Orgeron, Senator Michael "Big Mike" Fési, and Port Fourchon Executive Director Chett Chiasson.

Their voices matter in these conversations on keeping the Gulf of America competitive for future energy investment and long-term sustainability. The people who live and work in the Bayou Region know firsthand what this industry means to their families, their businesses, and their future.

Why community engagement matters

The energy industry in Louisiana has never been separate from the people who live here. It shows up in local paychecks, school funding, small businesses, and the way whole towns plan their futures.

That connection works best when it goes both ways. Industry leaders and policymakers make better decisions when they hear directly from the parishes and ports that carry the work. Local leaders, in turn, can speak up for their communities before policy is set, not after.

Meetings like this one are where that happens. They don't make headlines on their own, but they build the trust and understanding that good policy depends on.

Thank you

We're grateful to LMOGA for inviting us to help, and to Secretary Burgum and his team for taking the time to listen to Louisiana. Thank you also to the local leaders who spoke on behalf of the Bayou Region.

At Aurora, we believe the strongest outcomes come from bringing people together. We're proud to have played a small part in this one.
