Protecting South Lafourche: A Levee Renewal Campaign That Delivered

When the Morganza Action Coalition needed to renew the South Lafourche Levee District (SLLD) millage, they came to Aurora Solutions Group. The campaign had to do more than inform. The South Lafourche levees provide flood protection for thousands of Lafourche Parish residents and businesses, and they needed real community support behind it.

Aurora worked closely with SLLD Executive Director Nicholas Matherne and managed every aspect of the campaign: social media, website updates, advertising, direct mail, radio and television appearances, video and speaking engagements at local chamber and Rotary luncheons. The team also worked to secure editorial support from local media.

On June 27, 2026, voters approved the millage renewal with 87 percent in favor. During the campaign, Aurora grew the district's Facebook following by 7% and increased total Facebook views by 200 percent.

"Aurora understood what was at stake for this community. They helped us make the case, and the voters responded," said Henri Boulet, Executive Director of the Morganza Action Coalition.

The South Lafourche win follows similar successes Aurora has delivered previously for the North Lafourche Levee District and the Terrebonne Parish Levee District, both of which passed their own sales tax propositions with Aurora's support.

When community infrastructure is on the ballot, Aurora knows how to tell that story.
